Nelson Flores, Born in the Sta. Cruz District of Manila, Rev. Nelson Flores finished his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree at the Dominican-run University of Santo Tomas and earned a Doctorate in Law degree at the Order of Missionaries’ Adamson University. Rev. Nelson, who obtained his Theological Certificate from the Iglesia Filipina Independiente Diocesan House of Studies in 2016, was ordained deacon in the same year at the Philippine Independent Catholic Church (PICC) Christ the King Cathedral in Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte by Bp. Valiant Dayagbil and was ordained as an Aglipayan priest in 2021 at the Christ the King Anglican Church in Kokomo, Indiana by PICC USA Diocese Bp. Eric Schleiffer. The PICC is also known as the Simbahang Aglipayano, Malayang Simbahang Katoliko ng Pilipinas, and Simbahan ng mga Dukha.
Rev. Nelson was a former reporter of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, radio broadcaster of Radio Mindanao Network’s dzXL and Rajah Broadcasting Corporation’s dzRJ, and former Associate Editor of the Houston- based Fil-Am Press. He was the Usaping Bayan segment host of the defunct Pinoy Houston TV. He currently writes a column (Usaping Bayan) for Hataw, a popular tabloid newspaper in Metro Manila. Rev. Nelson was a former publicist of several Philippine local government officials. He is also a Honda-certified New Car Sales Consultant and a certified Filipino-English-Filipino interpreter/translator working for a multi-national language company.
Rev. Nelson was received in the Texas Episcopal Church in 2010 and, together with his daughter Bayang Lualhati, has since served in various lay capacities in St. Andrew’s Church in the Heights, Grace Episcopal in West Belfort, both in Houston; and St. Andrew’s Church in East Broadway, Pearland. Rev. Nelson, who is also a Freemason, is now serving his second term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce-Greater Houston Area. He is also the founder of the Bagong Bayani ng Mamamayan, a Filipino self-help organization. Moreover, he is also one of the founding church planters of the Sto Nino Filipino community.
